My son has been attending Maslak’s Black Belt Academy for over 6 months now and we are so pleased with the experience. Our son loves going to the classes. He goes 4 times a week and soon 5 days a week since Sunday’s were added. The sensei provides a fun and family oriented atmosphere. All of the staff that work there are excellent teachers and leaders. I would highly recommend Maslak’s to everyone.
My daughter has been a member here for 6 years now. Great family ran dojo. Love this place.

I can’t say enough how much the program at the Black Belt Academy has done for me and my family. We loved being involved as a family and all the individual attention and concern we received as Master Reed’s students.
~Thank you so very much!
Master Reed is my inspiration. I have grown so much as a student and a person because of my training with her. I will never forget the quality Instruction and life long lessons I learned as a student of Master Amy Reed’s.
My Son started with the program when he was four in January of 2007 and he is still loving it as much as he did on day one! Master and Sensei Reed are wonderful and they truly care about all of their students. Joey has not ever had one sad moment while he has been with them. I would recommend this to anyone and I do! It was lucky for me to find a place with such great people who really love and care for my son. He is so confident and happy and I know this program helped with that. Joey says he will be a student here until he is a grown up and I hope he is!”
Master Reed is someone I hope to become more alike as I grow and learn. As my “American Idol”, Master Reed has given me the confidence and strength to achieve things I never knew I could do. Thank you for all that you do. I know there will be so many great lessons to learn in the future! Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
Before joining the Black Belt Academy, our son Billy took absolutely no interest in any form of organized sports. He would complain every time it was time to go to soccer or baseball. Now, Billy is excited about going to his class. Originally we thought it would help him focus more, as well as gain respect for his peers, grown ups, siblings, and parents. He has gained these things plus so much more! Billy listens better, shares well, and most importantly, LOVES going to class. He would go every day if he could. Besides the physical activity aspect, we love the way Master Reed and Sensei Reed make classes fun and exciting for our child.
I am 23 years old and I’m a full time firefighter for the state of Connecticut. Also I joined the military, within the military I’m a fire fighter. I would just like to thank you for all the training in such that you gave me at a young age. Everything you have taught me is what has made me who I’m today. Many of the things I have today I wouldn’t of had if I hadn’t started Taekwondo. Your teachings were a great base for me to build off of. I wish you the best of luck all in the paths your life will take you down.
I wanted to say thank you Master Reed and Sensei for giving me the inspiration to know and I can reach goals in my life. With that said from the heart, let’s talk about self defense! Your teaching of self defense has made me more aware of my surroundings and more confident over all. Because of my training, I have the confidence and the ability to defend myself if necessary.
Master Amy Reed’s program is on target as far as developing the children as a whole and nurturing their growth. I highly recommend the academy to anyone I can!

Master and Sensei Reed,
Thank you both for creating such a positive learning environment! Each time my son, Zach has needed anything there has been tremendous support for him. Zach has found a love of martial arts at Black Belt Academy as well as friendship. The instructors as well as yourselves encourage him to be motivated in Tae Kwondo as well as in his schooling and everyday responsibilities. The Black Belt Academy inspires Physically, Mentally, and Spiritually!
We highly recommend the Academy. Our son is 5 and LOVES attending his weekly classes. It is his favorite activity…and has given him so much confidence to tackle anything new in his life. Go take a trial class…you will love it !!!
Master Reed’s Black Belt Academy has exceeded my expectations in many ways. My two daughters have attended for almost 5 years and love it (they are almost 8 and 9 yrs. old). They have learned confidence, respect, discipline, sportsmanship, determination, and accomplishment in an atmosphere that is unbelievably nurturing and fun. Additionally, we all have made great friends in the process. I am sure that this experience has shaped my girls’ lives forever. Thank you Master and Sensei Reed!
Master Amy Reed’s Black Belt Academy is a family oriented Tae Kwon Do facility that trains a person to be not only a talented martial artist, but a wonderful person as well. With a new power word each month, you (or your child) will learn patience, responsibility, fairness, and many other character building traits. Master Reed has more honor and integrity than anyone I know, and Sensei Reed is energetic, encouraging, and efficient. Each instructor is helpful and knowledgeable, and their uniqueness allows for a completely thorough learning experience. My son has gained confidence, personal dignity, and self-respect since beginning classes here, and after his first testing, I was so moved by his experience that I signed up for classes myself. The open schedule allows for us to take classes together on Family Training night as well as separately in order for us to get instruction according to our age-specific needs. This schedule also allows for even the busiest family to attend classes. The environment is clean, well-lit, and friendly, and Master Reed has often given up personal gain in order to maintain a harmonious, peaceful environment conducive to learning. Of this, I am thankful, as my son now thinks of the dojo as another home full of friends and role models for whom I am grateful are in his life. And as a person who is always striving to better herself in every attribute possible, I find my instructors role models as well, and I am proud to wear our uniform.
